Hinckley rebounds, plans to rehire

Citing a surge in sales, The Hinckley Co. expects to begin rehiring some of the 80 employees laid off last fall and earlier this year.
Some of those returning employees will go back to work at the Southwest Harbor-based company's operations in Manset and Trenton, according to VillageSoup. The company has orders pending for nine boats versus the two it had last winter.
Vice President of Sales Phil Bennett told the news website that the rehires will take place over the next two to three months, and that the company has been able to maintain profitability and make new investments in the Manset and Trenton facilities, despite the recession.
