Maine home sales dropped in December for the sixth consecutive month, while the median sales price continued its uptick.
A total of 761 single-family homes were sold last month in the state, a nearly 11% drop compared with December 2009, according to the Maine Public Broadcasting Network. The median sales price, meanwhile, rose 4.2% to $172,000. Overall, home sales in 2010 were 2.6% lower than 2009, while the median price grew nearly 3%.
Conversely, home sales in the Northeast rose 13% in December compared with the same month in 2009, while the median sales price decreased 1.4% to $237,300, according to the National Association of Realtors. Nationally, home sales jumped more than 12% in the month of December, and the median price inched down 1% to $168,800.
