Lobster stock in Maine strong

A new report from the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission has found Maine's lobster population is at an all-time high.

The report released this week at the commission's meeting in Arlington, Va., found strong lobster stocks in Maine, but declining populations in southern New England, according to the Associated Press. It's good news for Maine lobstermen, who last year suffered under declining harvest prices and new rope regulations, Patrice McCarron, executive director of the Maine Lobstermen's Association, told the AP.

A panel of lobster experts and the National Marine Fisheries Service compiled the report.
