Skowhegan Savings Bank recently inaugurated a new branch in Farmington the bank built for $1.5 million.
Located at 255 Wilton Road, the new branch is just under 2,4000 square feet and replaces the bank's former branch on Hannaford Drive. The branch is the only one in Farmington of three in Franklin County for Skowhegan Savings, which has 12 branches across the state.
Eight people are employed at the new branch, bringing the company's total to 150 employees including more than 60 in retail banking.
“We’ve been in Franklin County for a decade now, it just feels like home but we had outgrown our former home here in Farmington and this new branch was designed to better serve our customers in the region,” David Cyr, the bank's president and CEO, said at last week's event.
The bank broke ground on the new building in July 2022 and, with the help of numerous local contractors, officially opened the doors to customers in March. Contractors who attended the ribbon-cutting included representatives of Plymouth Engineering, Knowlton Cabinet, Ware-Butler Building Supply, Lynch Landscape, Bob's Cash Fuel, Cayer Security, ABT Plumbing Heating & Cooling, E L Vining & Son, Sherwin-Williams, Quality Electric, Maine Painting Co. and Mark Jones Drywall, according to Skowhegan Savings.
“I want to thank all of those involved in making this branch a reality, from the town of Farmington, contractors and our team here at the branch," Cyr said. "We look forward to assisting those in the area with their business and personal banking needs from this new facility for years to come."
Skowhegan Savings is ranked No. 17 among Maine-based banks in the 2023 Mainebiz Book of Lists, based on $754.4 million in assets as of June 30, 2022.
