ConvenientMD, the New Hampshire-based chain of urgent care centers that has been growing rapidly across New England, plans to open one in Belfast.
The new site, ConvenientMD's 11th location in Maine, will be at 20 Belmont Ave./Route 3, about a mile west of downtown Belfast, according to the company's website.
The center will offer walk-in medical care seven days a week, 12 hours a day, according to a notice filed last month with the state Department of Health and Human Services. At the site, currently being developed, ConvenientMD plans to have exam rooms, a reception area, a lab and a radiology facility with a $50,000 X-ray system.
Total costs for the project will be about $900,000, ConvenientMD said in the filing. The company did not immediately respond to questions Wednesday from Mainebiz.
In Maine, ConvenientMD operates urgent care centers in Auburn, Augusta, Bangor, Brunswick, Ellsworth, Portland, Saco, Sanford and Westbrook. The company also has a primary care clinic in Portland.
Primary care has been a recent offshoot for the company, which has worked with Portland architecture firm Woodhull to design those clinics with a different look and feel than the urgent care centers.
Headquartered in Portsmouth, N.H., ConvenientMD has 14 urgent care and three primary care centers in that state. In Massachusetts, there are currently 17 urgent care locations.
The company was founded in 2012 and its investors have included the high-profile firm Bain Capital.
