Two Maine-based companies — one in the information technology space, and another in the lumber industry — are expanding after acquiring local businesses this week.
Winxnet, an IT outsourcing and consulting firm in Portland, is further expanding into the security and compliance industry after buying InfoSecurus, an information security firm also in Portland, according to a press release. No financial information was disclosed.
As a result of the acquisition, Infosecurus employees — including the company’s founder and president, Eugene Slobodzian — are joining the Winxnet team, though the release did not disclose how many made the transition. Slobodzian has been named Winxnet’s new vice president of security, bringing with him 17 years of experience in information security.
“Joining forces with Winxnet ... ensures that we have resources to effectively meet expanding client needs without compromising the quality of service that our clients have really come to value and expect,” he said in a statement.
In other news, Hammond Lumber Co. is expanding to Wilton after acquiring the family-owned Dexter Supply there, according to a press release.
Becoming Hammond Lumber’s 13th location in Maine, the Wilton business will be run in tandem with the company’s Farmington location. Al Feather, the Farmington store’s manager, will supervise both locations.
Hammond Lumber is currently interviewing Dexter Supply employees interested in making the transition, many of whom have been there for their entire working lives. Dexter Supply was owned by Kelly and Jennifer Dexter.
